Financial Options

Veterans Benefits

Through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, war veterans and their spouses may be eligible for the "Aid and Attendance" benefit that helps cover assisted living fees. This benefit may be up to $2,000 per month in assisted living care. This benefit would be paid directly to you once approved. To apply for this benefit, please contact the Middle Tennesee Regional Office or your local state office at (800) 827-1000.

Long Term Care Insurance

Some long term care insurance policies may also cover a portion of assisted living. We encourage you to ask your financial advisor if your policy includes this benefit and to learn more about options for affording senior care. Use this handy online calculator to compare home care versus assisted living.

Reverse Mortgages

Seniors may also choose to take part in a reverse mortgage. The National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association (NRMLA) is a great resource to learn more about how a reverse mortgage works and answers many frequently asked questions.
